Stock market update: IT shares slip as rupee hits 1 month high

NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading with losses in Tuesday's morning session as the rupee extended gains and traded near day's high level, due to some selling seen in the domestic market.

The rupee opened at 1-month high at 70.96 per dollar versus previous close 71.05.

Shares of Just Dial (down 3.41 per cent) , Mindtree (down 1.76 per cent) , NIIT Technologies (down 1.37 per cent) , Tech Mahindra (down 1.27 per cent) , Tata Consultancy (down 1.25 per cent) , Wipro (down 0.96 per cent) and HCL Technologies (down 0.7 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.84 per cent down at 15030.2 around 10:18 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 18 points at 11,919.50, while the BSE Sensex was down 53.64 points at 40,433.79.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, Bank of Baroda, Zee Ent., Tata Motors, RBL Bank Ltd., JSPL and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
