Since you are investing for 10 years, you can invest in equity mutual fund schemes. Equity mutual funds have the potential to offer superior returns than other asset classes over a long period. However, they can be extremely risky and volatile in the short term. Since you are ready to take moderate risk, you may consider investing in multi cap mutual funds. Mutli cap mutual funds invest across market capitalisations and sectors based on the outlook of the fund manager. You can choose one or two good multi cap mutual funds.

Also, if you want to diversify to reduce risk, you may consider investing a small part of the money in large cap mutual funds. However, you should remember that this may bring down the total returns from your mutual fund portfolio.

Many new investors need a lot of handholding in the initial phase of their investment life. Many of them panic and discontinue their investments when the market gets into rough weather. If I am not wrong, you are a new investor. You like to invest in mf on your pocket money. So, in my opinion you should invest in hybrid fund. SBI hybrid equity fund is the best option for you. in which both equity & debt exposure are there. you need money at anytime for your emergency requirement, so this scheme is good for you.
