Direct mutual fund's NAVs not higher than standard plans in some schemes

Sebi has asked AMCs to come out with direct plans so that investors who are not taking the help of distributors can get cheaper options.

The Sebi has asked the asset management companies (AMCs) to come out with direct plans from Jan 1, 2013 so that all the investors who are not taking the help of distributors can get cheaper options. Since there is no commission charged to the direct plans, its expense ratio should be less than that of the standard plans.

That means, the direct plan’s NAVs should be higher than that of the standard plans. However, that is not the case with some of the schemes and the accompanying table showcases the schemes with maximum difference.
