    GroupM’s Sameer Singh to join ByteDance

    Synopsis

    Singh will remain with GroupM till end of next month and join the Chinese company in August.

    Meanwhile, GroupM has elevated South Asia COO Prasanth Kumar to the post of CEO with immediate effect.
    Mumbai: GroupM’s South Asia CEO Sameer Singh has quit the company to join video app Tik-Tok developer Beijing ByteDance Technology Co as vice-president, monetisation, for India.

    Singh will remain with GroupM till end of next month and join the Chinese company in August. He will work closely with ByteDance’s partners and clients while leading the advertising, sales and marketing strategies across all Bytedance products in India.

    “I am truly excited to join Byte-Dance, which is one of the fastest growing global technology companies spearheading innovation in the mobile space. In India, ByteDance has transformed the way people create and interact with their content, and I believe that my experience will contribute to ByteDance’s promising journey in this market,” Singh said.

    Lidong Zhang, senior vice-president of ByteDance, said, “We are excited to welcome Sameer to the team. We are looking forward to working with him to bring ByteDance’s monetisation efforts in India across our various platforms such as TikTok and Helo to even greater heights.”

    Meanwhile, GroupM has elevated South Asia COO Prasanth Kumar to the post of CEO with immediate effect. “PK has performed to the highest levels for 15 years in GroupM and agency leadership roles. He is uniquely and perfectly positioned to take on the CEO role,” said Mark Patterson, CEO, GroupM Asia Pacific.
