Choose a Prime Minister who can reply to Pakistan: Amit shah

“A PM should not be chosen simply because he wishes to become one or someone thinks her son has become of a certain age to be the prime minister,” Shah said in Agra.

New Delhi: BJP president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath began their campaign in western UP on Sunday by flashing the nationalism card post the Balakot strike, with Shah saying that a person who can give a fitting reply to Pakistan should be the prime minister.

“A PM should not be chosen simply because he wishes to become one or someone thinks her son has become of a certain age to be the prime minister,” Shah said in Agra, in a swipe at Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

He said a PM should be someone who can take care of the country’s security which is the “biggest issue”, one who can finish terrorism and “joh Pakistan ko muhtod jawab de aur unke dant khatte kar de (give Pakistan a befitting reply),” Shah said.

Shah claimed that former PM Manmohan Singh did not even issue a statement when Pakistan soldiers beheaded Indian soldiers and took away their heads. “Modi did one surgical strike after Uri. After Pulwama attack, people thought we will not do surgical strikes again... But Pakistan did not know Modi well –– Modi did air strikes on terrorists,” Shah said.

Shah also questioned why opposition leaders did not wish to contest the Lok Sabha polls but dream of removing Modi as the prime minister. “If the alliance wins, who will be their PM? Mayawati wants to remove Modi, but she says she will not fight the polls.

The same is the case with Sharad Pawar, Raj Thackeray and Mamata Banerjee,” Shah said. He said Modi had not taken a single day’s vacation in the past 25 years, “while there is a political leader who takes a vacation every few months and even his mother is trying to find where he is”, in an apparent jibe at Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, Adityanath said in Saharanpur that like Osama Bin Laden was killed in Pakistan, “Masood Azhar will also be killed.” He referred to Mayawati as “Kuldevi (goddess) of the corrupt”, Akhilesh as “Kulbhushan (head) of goondas” and Rahul Gandhi as “Kuldeepak (inheritor) of Naamdars.”New Delhi: BJP president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath began their campaign in western UP on Sunday by flashing the nationalism card post the Balakot strike, with Shah saying that a person who can give a fitting reply to Pakistan should be the prime minister.
