Nearly five lakh youths register for jobs in 9 days, claims Rashtriya Janata Dal

    Synopsis

“We have already got 4,83,789 applications with resumes within nine days on the website, www.berozgarihato.co.in, and over 10 lakh missed calls for registration on a toll-free number,” Sanjay Yadav, the political advisor to the former deputy CM, told ET.

The RJD is citing the registration as proof there was high unemployment in the state and has made it a major poll issue.
New Delhi: Nearly five lakh youths registered on a Rashtriya Janata Dal website launched by its leader Tejashwi Yadav last week. The website promises jobs if the RJD is voted to power.

“We have already got 4,83,789 applications with resumes within nine days on the website, www.berozgarihato.co.in, and over 10 lakh missed calls for registration on a toll-free number,” Sanjay Yadav, the political advisor to the former deputy CM, told ET. The RJD is citing the registration as proof there was high unemployment in the state and has made it a major poll issue, claiming the youth are rallying behind Tejashwi Yadav.

“Unemployment in Bihar is the number 1 issue and on top of our agenda. There is 46% unemployment in Bihar, with 7 crore unemployed, the highest in the country. We are offering a guarantee for jobs if we come to power. JDU-BJP are not speaking about it at all and Bihar’s youths are trusting Tejashwi to save their future,” RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari told ET. Tejashwi had in February announced a state-wide ‘Berozgari Hatao’ Yatra which was put off due to Covid-19.

RJD has prepared a comprehensive scheme after consulting experts and through a mega drive every capable person will be given a job, depending on the skillset, Tejashwi had said. Recruitment examinations which have not been held will be conducted to fill vacancies in government departments.

The website asks for details like age, address and educational qualifications for those who wish to register and has facility for individuals to upload their resume. It says Bihar has suffered unprecedented migration due to unemployment despite youngsters doing graduation, post-graduation and PhD. It promises to convert Bihar into a “fully employed state.” Tiwari said 4.5 lakh vacant posts in the state government have not been filled and no recruitment examinations have been held. RJD promises permanent government jobs in place of contract labour opted by the Nitish Kumar government. “To remove unemployment in Bihar, we have to first remove Nitish Kumar,” Tiwari said.
