Religious body seeks help for trans-world Muslim university

A delegation of a religious organisation today called on governor S K Sinha seeking his intervention in setting up of a trans-world Muslim university in Kashmir.

SRINAGAR: A delegation of a religious organisation today called on governor S K Sinha seeking his intervention in setting up of a trans-world Muslim university in Kashmir.

A delegation of Jamait-e-Ahli Hadis led by its president Showkat Ahmed Shah called on the governor at Raj Bhavan this morning and briefed him about the proposed university.

Jamait secretary general Abdul Rehman said the proposed university would be of great public importance, interest and good for the humanity irrespective of creed and community.

He said the university proposes to start faculties like law, architecture, business management and Islamic Shariah.

He also informed the governor that the bill in this regard has been drafted after examining the models of Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University and even Shri Mata Vaishnodevi university.

Meanwhile, the governor said he would take up this issue with chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Referring to Shardapeeth University, a new university, which is being set up in the state he said, "both, Shardapeeth University and Trans-World Muslim University are dear to me",

He also said that after their formation there can be a healthy interaction between these two Universities.

"Interaction between varsities is imperative for wider exposure of students," he added.
