Anti talk ULFA calls bandh on April 20 to protest Prime minister’s visit

The prime minister was scheduled to visit Assam on April 7 however subsequently it was cancelled. ULFA observes April 7 as its raising day.

GUWAHATI: Anti talk ULFA militants has called Assam bandh on April 20 to protest Prime minister, Dr Manmohan Singh’s visit to the state.

Dr Singh Singh will visit Assam on April 20 to inaugurate the platinum jubilee celebration of the Assam assembly.

The prime minister was scheduled to visit Assam on April 7 however subsequently it was cancelled. ULFA observes April 7 as its raising day. Following the bandh regional political party, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has postponed its presidential election.

Meanwhile a grenade exploded in the busy market place in Bordumsa in upper Assam's Tinsukia district on Thursday. There was however no injury in the incident. Police however is yet to confirm the explosion.
