Senior party leaders said the apprehensions and warnings being issued by PDP and National Conference leaders about Centre’s plans to remove Article 35-A & 370 is misplaced.
New Delhi: The core group of BJP Jammu and Kashmir unit will meet on Tuesday evening with party working president JP Nadda to discuss their preparedness for the likely Assembly elections in the state later this year.

The party brass has underlined that the issue of scrapping Article 35-A or Article 370 is not on the agenda.

Senior party leaders said the apprehensions and warnings being issued by PDP and National Conference leaders about Centre’s plans to remove Article 35-A and Article 370 is misplaced. The deployment of additional security personnel in the state has been done solely to prevent any strikes before Independence Day and in the wake of strict measures being taken by the Centre against separatists. “PDP and NC leaders are raising the issue of Article 35-A and Article 370 mainly because they are furious about the Centre’s move to raid those involved in financial wrong doing in the Jammu and Kashmir Bank. Several people close to the two parties are guilty of embezzlement and will face action. This has led to such statements,” a senior BJP leader said.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has said that scrapping Article 35-A would be akin to playing with fire and warned the Centre against any such move.
