    Centre to examine farm bills of Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan states

    “We will examine all the bills passed by these states. These bills can become law only after the assent of the President. At the first look, the bills passed by all the three states are just an extension of what we have enacted,” a senior agriculture ministry official, who was directly involved in drafting the farm bills, said.

    NEW DELHI: The Centre will examine the farm bills that Congress-ruled Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have passed to counter the laws passed by Parliament to reform agricultural marketing.

    “We will examine all the bills passed by these states. These bills can become law only after the assent of the President. At the first look, the bills passed by all the three states are just an extension of what we have enacted,” a senior agriculture ministry official, who was directly involved in drafting the farm bills, said on condition of anonymity.
