During the winter session of 2019, Lok Sabha recorded the productivity of 116% & Rajya sabha was about 100% productive, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi informed.

How many bills were passed?

A total of 18 bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha of which 14 bills were passed by the Lower House. During the winter session, 15 bills were passed by Rajya Sabha. Overall, 15 bills were passed by both Houses of Parliament, the minister said while addressing a press conference after both Houses were adjourned sine die.

Major bills that got clearance

Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, SPG (Amendment) Bill, Chit Fund (Amendment) Bill, and the Arms (Amendment) Bill were among the major Bills passed during the winter session. The minister also informed that four bills -- Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, 1987, National Commission for Human Resources for Health Bill, Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and International Financial Services Centres Authority Bill, 2019 -- were withdrawn during the session.

The Lok Sabha Speaker "for the first time" faced disturbance during his valedictory remarks because of commotion on the concluding day of the winter session which commenced on November 18 and provided 20 sittings spread over a period of 26 days that included 130 hours and 45 minutes.
