Don't need a debate on 10th Schedule, says BJP
BJP MLA Madhuswamy: We don’t want a discussion on the 10th Schedule, it is not related. If CM wants to speak, let him. Else lets proceed with the trust vote.
Dinesh Gundu Rao says the Speaker too is in a dilemma, and so it needs to be discussed in detail.
Dinesh Gundu Rao: Validity of whip had never been questioned before, but it has happened today.
Governor does have the power, replies BJP
BJP MLA Suresh Kumar differs, says Governor does have that power. He said, "Krishna Byre Gowda said we can’t hurry these decisions. You are right. However, on Friday morning, CM Kumaraswamy said as doubts had been raised on the govt, he asked to move a confidence motion, and asked to fix a time. Then it was decided to hold it today. I ask Byre Gowda, when CM himself has said this on Friday itself, why the delay? There should be a sanctity to his words. You need to show urgency, if we don’t, it sends wrong message to the people
Governor cannot interfere in proceedings of House: Congress
Congress MLA HK Patil says Constitution has not given power to the Governor to send a message. This amounts to interference in proceedings of this House. As Assembly of Karnataka, we advise that Governor shall not interfere with proceedings of this House.

Krishna Byre Gowda: When discussion is happening here, they could have made their arguments here. But instead, they went to someone else and got them to send a message. This is not appropriate. This evokes angry reactions from BJP members. The Speaker then says nothing wrong with BJP approaching the Governor.
Former CM Jagadish Shettar: The ruling party is trying to delay and push the debate for three days. Let the trust vote happen today.
Clear confusion first, says Congress
MLA Krishna Byre Gowda: We have to first clear legal confusions regarding the trust vote. Without that, just for someone’s desire for power or authority, we can’t go ahead with it.
Speaker clarifies: The Governor has desired to conduct a trust vote. No direction has been given.

Speaker to seek legal opinion on whether to defer trust vote
Speaker Ramesh Kumar is set to meet the Advocate General shortly on how to proceed on Siddaramaiah's demand to defer the trust vote."I have to consult a few people and only then take a decision (on whether to hold the trust vote), especially because the matter has gone to the SC. The SC, in saying it is my decision, has placed faith in me so I have to tread carefully," he says.
Speaker asks Home Minister to find out about Shrimant Patil
Speaker Ramesh Kumar directs the Home department: "Find out whether Patil went to Mumbai on his own. If yes, why did he go to Mumbai when there were so many hospitals for treatment in Bengaluru. Please find out. Give me a detailed report tomorrow. The only evidence that is before me is the letter written by Shrimant Patil but it does not seem natural and fair as the letter does not have a date or a letterhead."
BJP MLA V Somanna asks the Speaker whether the House will carry out its agenda, or will keep discussing other issues. Speaker says proceedings are very much as per the agenda.

Why is Maharashtra govt protecting rebel MLAs: Gundu Rao
After the House reconvened KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao speaks: Why are MLAs being whisked away? Why is the Maharashtra govt giving them protection? Why are police stationed outside where they are staying? This clearly shows the BJP’s hand. We are writing a letter to you (Speaker) to investigate this and bring back the rebel MLAs.
What the Congress gameplan in the House is: Explainer
ET's Naveen Meneses has a quick explainer on what's happening in the House: With 15 rebel MLAs staying away from the House under cover of the Supreme Court order, and 2 more 'calling in sick' today the ruling JD(S) Congress is in no hurry to face the trust vote. Its leader of the legislative party Siddaramaiah has claimed the SC order infringed on his right to issue a whip to all MLAs to vote for the govt. A whip is a right given to a political party under the Tenth Schedule and hence any infringement is against the Constitution, he argued. The Congress leader also argued that while his right was being decided upon, he was not made a party. So this was his suggestion to the Speaker: Defer the trust vote till he approaches the SC and gets a clarification.
SC order has discussed about my rights as CLP leader to issue whip, but I was not a respondent to present my concerns. As the outcome of anti-defection law has its implications on no-confidence motion, I would like to request to postpone the motion till we get clarification from SC.
