NEW DELHI: A public interest litigation (PIL), filed by Hindu Dharma Parishad in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, sought a complete ban on all pro and anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests till the court decides on the constitutional validity of the law.

The public interest litigation also sought a direction to all high courts not to take up any CAA-related matters, along with framing of guidelines for disallowing any religious or other congregations on the matter.

In addition, the Madurai-based organisation sought a ban on all WhatsApp forwards or any other information on the anti-CAA protests in the country.

Hindu Dharma Parishad blamed the anti-CAA protests and the recent violence on foreign elements interested in destabilising the country.
