GUWAHATI: Following hailstorm and inclement weather, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cancelled his election rally in Upper Assams tea producing district of Dibrugarh.

Mr Singh had to wait in the airport in anticipation of the weather clearing up. However, the SPG did not think it safe for Dr Singh to proceed to the rally ground by helicopter from the airport.

He arrived at the Mohanbari airport around 12.30 pm. Sources in the Congress said that Dr Singh returned to New Delhi. The party is working out another date for his election rally.
