MUMBAI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has filed a police complaint against a booklet that claims RSS was rewriting India’s Constitution. RSS’ Nagpur mahanagar sanchalak Rajesh Loya told ET that he was very disturbed after coming across printed booklets, which were circulated online and on social media too.

“Those behind the 16-page booklet have tried to make it look authentic by including RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat’s picture in it. The booklet claims that the ‘new constitution’ would be based on caste system. RSS is against caste discrimination but the booklet has made many such fake claims,” Loya said.

The booklet claims that under the ‘new constitution’, India would henceforth be known as Hindustan and Brahmins would have ‘maximum rights’. Crimes committed by a member of the community would be pardoned and a woman’s job would be to only give birth. “We couldn’t even complete reading it. It is clearly the work of a person or persons of unsound mind. It is totally rubbish,” said Loya.

He said that filing a police complaint was a ‘rare’ thing for the RSS, but a decision was taken after the organisation concluded that the intention was to tarnish it. “We saw the booklet online a few days back. But later even printed copies were available. Hence, a decision was taken to file a police complaint. They have tried to make it authentic by asking people for suggestions and announcing cash prizes. Hence we decided that this was a serious attempt to defame us,” Loya said. Police have filed cases in Delhi and other parts of the country too, he said.
