Karnataka crisis: CM HD Kumaraswamy mulls resignation
BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is likely to announce the resignation of the 13- month old JD(S)-Congress coalition ministry after the Cabinet meeting on Thursday morning, according to sources.

The CM has called for a Cabinet meeting at 11 am, and is expected to convey his decision. The CM is learnt to be frustrated after the Congress leaders failed to persuade their MLAs to withdraw their resignations and return to the party fold.

The CM is learnt have expressed his disappointment within the close party circles and family members, sources said.

BJP State unit president BS Yeddyurappa addressed a meeting with his party MLAs on Wednesday evening where he asked them to be prepared for a big sacrifice.

Yeddyurappa, who the BJP is likely to name as the CM after the fall of the Kumaraswamy regime, has asked his party MLAs not to nurse hopes of becoming ministers in the BJP ministry. The BJP leader said he will induct all those Congress and JD(S) MLAs as well as two independent MLAs who quit their positions and switched sides to the BJP, first before considering the claims of the party MLAs.

By that logic, if and when the BJP regime were to assume office, Bengaluru City itself will have eight ministers, sources said.
