A study has found that coronavirus doesn't only get transmitted from person to person, as is believed till now.
Based on new findings, scientists from the US-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have claimed that the virus can stay alive for days on solid surfaces.
"It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads," the study said.
The new Coronavirus, officially called Covid-19, mainly spreads from person to person who are in the proximity of one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, said the study.
"These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby, or possibly be inhaled into the lungs," it further added.
Scientists also warned that even people who do not show symptoms can transmitt the virus.
Coronavirus has already killed more than 4,200 and has infected nearly 1,20,000 lakh people worldwide. It has spread to all continents except Antarctica.
