After a complaint by Jio on July 8, Trai, over the past two-and-a-half months, had been examining if Vi’s RedX plan degrades the quality of services for its other users on non-premium tariff offers. Trai, in fact, had on July 11 suspended the original RedX plan, following which, Vi had moved the Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal.
"Vi has acquired the co-sponsorship rights of the live broadcast of T-20 premier league which will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE and telecast on the Star Sports network," Vi said in a statement on Saturday.
Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi), however, lost 1.12 million and 4.82 million customers respectively in June, in the aftermath of the December 2019 hikes and post-lockdown pangs as many feature phone users with prepaid connections gave up mobile connections as they were unable to recharge.
Up till now, Jio, which had just one postpaid plan at Rs 199, concentrated largely on the prepaid customers, who form the main segment of telecom subscribers in India.

Airtel’s active mobile user base has risen to 311 million (307 million) in June, while Jio and Vi’s have shrunk to 310 million (313 million) and 273 million (277 million) respectively over the previous month.
Airtel's Rs 350 recharge plan provides 2GB data per day with 28-day validity. This means a total of 56 GB a month. It offers unlimited calls and 100 SMSes per day. Additionally, it also provides subscription to ‘Amazon Prime’ and access to Airtel Xstream premium and Wynk Music.

Homegrown digital payments providers have submitted a writ intervention appeal in the Delhi High Court to become party in a case by Paytm’s parent One97 Communications against the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) and telcos for failing to provide adequate safeguards to curb frauds.

The auto major is looking for collaboration even as the process to carve out passenger vehicle (PV) business as a separate standalone unit gathers steam.
A refreshed brand alone, they said, would not help the company retain customers or attract new ones, if the telco’s network was weak and its products and services weren’t competitive or comparable with those of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio.
Shares of the company pared gains to trade over 2 per cent after the announcement.
Takkar also said that Rs 25,000 crore which the telecom carrier plans to raise is sufficient “for our business plan which we have submitted to our board and which they have approved and we look forward to exploring all options as a company.”
Starting today, Vi ads will be on TV and digital platforms, followed by a high decibel intensive multi-media campaign.
“The merger a couple of years back meant to start a journey of integrating two mammoth networks and companies into one seamless entity. The world had never ever seen a merger and integration of this size and scale in the telecom sector,” Birla said.
VIL's MD and CEO Ravinder Takkar, at a media briefing on Monday, said that "everyone is selling below cost" and the telco is "not shy to take that step (raising prices)". Takkar added that the sector regulator also needs to look into tariff charts.
Tata Motors has bagged the order for 6,413 vehicles from the Andhra Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation, the company said. It added that the fully-built Tata Gold Ace mini trucks are to be used as mobile-dispensing units for the doorstep delivery of supplies in Andhra Pradesh, and will be customised to suit the application.
The company has held initial discussions with Oak Hill Advisors, Marathon Asset Management, Spectrum Asset Management, Anchorage Capital and Providence Investment Management, the people said.

JBM Auto Ltd has bagged the country's first BS-VI complaint AC low floor CNG bus order for New Delhi from Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS), JBM Auto said in a regulatory filing.
"...Vehicles complying with BS-VI emission norms shall have 1 cm green strip at the top in the third registration plate," as per a notification issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
