Synopsis

Huawei India seems to be on the tenterhooks with a fresh set of app bans and the LAC standoff. The company’s name is also missing from the sponsors of a flagship industry event. While Huawei is confident of not getting banned here given its compliance history, it has reasons to worry. Will its 5G megaproject ever take off in India?

India has made a fresh attack on a range of social-media apps of Chinese origin even without naming China. This comes in the backdrop of the border stand-off which has failed to conclude even after seven months of diplomatic and military talks. However, interestingly, India has steered clear of issuing any negative statement or even hinting at excluding Huawei from its 5G foray.
