In an Instagram post, the company said that 99% of its customers want the more premium offering Ather 450, which provides a higher range per charge, more power, and a higher top-speed.
Both Ather 340 and Ather 450 look identical and the differences between the scooters are under the skin in terms of higher battery capacity and a more powerful motor on the 450.
"We are glad that people prefer superior experience! Reason good enough for us to focus all our energies on the Ather 450 and our future products," the company said on social media.
Customers who have pre-ordered the Ather 340 will not receive the product. "We are discontinuing the Ather 340 with immediate effect. Existing pre-order customers can upgrade to the Ather 450," the company said on its website.
The Ather 450 is available in two cities and has a starting price of Rs 1.14 lakh on-road in Bengaluru and Rs 1.22 lakh in Chennai. It costs about Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 more than the Ather 340.
