Nazara invests Rs 7.5 crore in Qunami creator Sports Unity

Nazara has previously backed companies like Halaplay, Sportskeeda, Mastermind Sports, MoongLabs and NZ World Kenya.

Nazara has been actively investing in India's gaming ecosystem.
Nazara invests Rs 7.5 crore in Qunami creator Sports Unity Gaming firm Nazara Technologies has invested Rs 7.5 crore in Sports Unity that owns online multiplayer quiz game Qunami. The round also saw participation from Delhi-based lawyer Vaibhav Gaggar.

*With this investment, Nazara said it will own majority stake in Sports Unity. The company claimed that Sports Unity’s Qunami has over 40,000 monthly active quizzers playing up to 30 minutes per day. It claims to have crossed over one crore monthly transactions registering a 100% growth month-on-month.

"Qunami will leverage Nazara’s network to grow into a large consumer centric internet brand and build quizzing as one of the leading real money gaming categories in the emerging markets” said Manish Agarwal, CEO, Nazara Technologies.

Qunami allows players to battle out for prize money in a one-on-one competition as well as team vs team format. The entire game lasts for about two minutes.

“Quizzing attracts audiences of all demographies and possesses a massive potential to scale. Nazara, a partner with an international spread and carrier association within 118 countries creates the key alignment to Qunami’s vision of global expansion and opportunity to skyrocket Qunami’s success metrics,” said Seemant Shankar, Co-Founder of Sports Unity.

Nazara has been actively investing in India's gaming ecosystem. It has previously backed companies like Halaplay, Sportskeeda, Mastermind Sports, MoongLabs and NZ World Kenya. The company offers gaming subscription services in 61 countries including, Africa, Middle East, South East Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.
