NEW DELHI: The Indian information technology sector will see more layoffs. After thousands were fired by Infosys and Cognizant in the past six months, as many as 200,000 more may be at risk of losing their jobs in the next year as companies seek people with new skillsets, according to recruitment experts. The National Association of Software and Services
in the IT services sector face a threat to their jobs. “It is mostly due to the failure to reskill, along with other major changes like automation, digitisation, scalability, restructuring business units of legacy systems etc.,” said Ratna Gupta, senior director at ABC Consultants. Some companies have hired firms such as Randstad to find alternative employment for midlevel employees.
