  • According to sources, Chanda Kochhar's flat in Mumbai, certain shares and investments have been attached by the investigating agency. Deepak Kochhar's business properties too were attached by the ED. The ED has registered a criminal case under the PMLA in 2019 against Chanda Kochhar, Deepak Kochhar, Venugopal Dhoot of Videocon Group and others.

    At least four central agencies — the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and CBI, besides the ED and tax department — are probing the Kochhars and Videocon chairman Venugopal Dhoot, over alleged irregularities in certain loan deals between ICICI Bank and the industrial group when Chanda Kochhar was at the helm of the lender.

    The bank, while terminating her employment, also denied her remuneration and rescinded the bonuses and stock options given to her from April 2009 to March 2018. She was accused of playing a role in grant of out-of- turn loans of Rs 3,250 crore to Videocon Group, which allegedly benefited her husband, Deepak Kochhar.

    Kochhar had on November 30 moved the Bombay HC challenging "termination" of her employment by ICICI Bank which also denied her remuneration and clawed back all the bonuses and stock options between April 2009 and March 2018 for her alleged role in granting out of turn loans worth Rs 3,250 crore to the Videocon Group which benefitted her husband Deepak Kochhar.

    Additional District Judge Sandeep Garg passed the directions on a complaint filed through advocate Vijay Aggarwal, who claimed that the content of the film was "defamatory" as "it makes insinuations and judgments about the life of the plaintiff ". The court issued notice to the producer, director and others associated with the film for November 26.

    Kochhar had moved the Bombay High Court challenging ICICI Bank's decision to terminate her despite the bank having approved her request for early retirement.

    Kochhar has filed a petition against ‘purported termination’ and denial of the agreed remuneration by ICICI Bank.

    The tax department wants to ascertain whether the Rs 49.9 crore invested by Mauritius-based Firstland Holdings in 0.001% compulsory cumulative preference shares issued by NuPower Renewables was a genuine transaction.

    Most LOCs are only too real as a number of businessmen have been discovering to their discomfort.

    Chanda Kochhar will now be asked to depose later this week. She had not appeared before the agency even last week citing health reasons.
