According to the notification, companies that make phones priced at Rs 15,000 and above and which make a cumulative investment of Rs 1,000 crore over four years, starting with Rs 250 crore in the first year, will qualify for an incentive of 6% for the first two years, followed by 5% for the next two and 4% in the fifth year.

IISc engineers begin work on ventilator prototype
The IISc team is building a prototype of an electro-mechanical ventilator using components found or made in India, based on guidelines issued by the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. “We are building it so that anyone can use it free of cost,” said T V Prabhakar, Principal Research Scientist at the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (DESE), IISc.

Automobile manufacturers asked to make ventilators: Health Ministry
The Ministry of health has already asked the Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, to manufacture 30,000 ventilators in the next two months in collaboration with local manufacturers, the ministry said. Agva Healthcare, Noida has also been given an order to manufacture 10,000 ventilators within a month.
