    Cumulatively, 2,642,549 employees were added in November under the three social security schemes of the govt as per the payroll data released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation. While 1,162,863 net additions were in EPFO, 1433,000 people were added under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme and 46,686 were added under the National Pension Scheme.

    While certain cyberattacks focus on specific organisations, the majority target the largest number of internet users possible. Such attacks are often relatively easy for cybercriminals to undertake and can cause serious harm.

    Out of the close to 5,000 organisations which were surveyed, 45% said they were against it while 45% said they were okay with the provision which has been included in the proposed personal data protection Bill.

    Cybercriminals will try to take advantage of the situation through targeted attacks.

    Last year, the government said it planned to release a new Cybersecurity Strategy to keep up with the changing nature of technologies, platforms and threats. Technology policy think tanks and digital freedom advocates have written to the National Security Council Secretariat urging stronger encryption requirements.

    "While confidentiality about your data is guaranteed by Census Act, 1948; the same law specifies penalty for BOTH public AND census officials for non-compliance or violation of any provision of the Act," the RGI said.

    The net addition to the ESIC, after excluding those who ceased paying their contribution during the month, was 6.97 lakh, the highest for any month in the current fiscal year.
