JNU students boycott exams over fee hike issue
The Jawaharlal Nehru University students boycotted the exams on Thursday over the hostel fee hike issue, even as the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies (SSIS) saw students appearing for their papers.
HRD Ministry defers decision to hike MTech fee in IITs
While the ministry had, in September, announced the decision of the IIT Council that it will implement the fee hike, the issue will again be taken up at the next meeting. The development comes against the backdrop of protests by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students against a recent fee hike. No proposal at present to waive penalty, interest on telco's licence fee dues: Telecom minister Prasad
"No such proposal is under consideration of the government as on date," Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. He was responding to specific questions on whether the government proposes to provide a waiver for penalties and interest on the non-payment of license fee on AGRs by telecom operators.
