    India's reiteration on the Kashmir issue came after Trump while addressing the media with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in Davos on Tuesday said that the US was watching the developments relating to Kashmir "very closely" and repeated his offer to "help" resolve the dispute. It was Trump's fourth offer to help in resolving the Kashmir issue since withdrawal of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

    Reacting to the chief minister's remarks, Jammu and Kashmir Students' Association, an organisation of Kashmiri students studying here, said he should not issue "provocative" statements. Association spokesperson Nasir Khuehami asked the chief minister to withdraw his remarks and said "ensure the safety of Kashmiri students rather than issuing provocative statements like this".

    Accompanied by General-officer-commanding, Northern Command, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Army chief visited troops along the LoC to review the prevailing situation and operational readiness of the units of Jammu-based White Knight Corps. Gen Naravane was briefed by General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps, Lt Gen Harsha Gupta and some commanders.

    The minister said that the students cannot remain engaged in small things as their aim is to excel in academics and improve the international ranking of over 1,000 universities across the country.

    The collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India S A Bobde, has also approved the proposal for elevation of six judicial officers as judges of the Rajasthan High Court. The collegium has approved the names of advocates Savitri Ratho, Manish Shishodia and Abhay Kumar Ahuja for elevation as judges of the high courts of Orissa, Rajasthan and Bombay.

    "The training launch was part of Field Training Exercise of Army Strategic Forces Command aimed at rehearsing operational readiness procedures during day and night," the ISPR, the media wing of the army, said in a statement. The 'Ghaznavi' missile is capable of delivering multiple types of warheads upto a range of 290 kilometers, the statement said.

    Internet service providers have been asked to provide fixed line Internet connectivity in all the 10 districts of Jammu region and two districts, Kupwara and Bandipora, in North Kashmir. Rohit Kansal, the principal secretary to the administration of Jammu and Kashmir said the order will come into effect from Saturday.
