Desperately needed: Urban design solutions
We need a well-thought-out urban design to resolve our urban woes and strategically meet our urban aspirations. Bringing in land pooling Act (LPA), and enabling the transfer of development rights (TDR) within detailed town planning (DTP) schemes, would be primary links in the system that needs to be established. Also, tools to free privately held land for public use with no loss of economic value to the donor have to be embedded into the system. Land pooling Act allows plot boundaries to be reworked into more functional and optimal parcels, creates new roads, parks, linkages etc.

Nirbhaya case: Tihar jail seeks from court fresh death warrants against 4 convicts
The court was hearing a plea by one of the four death row convicts in the case, Mukesh Kumar Singh, seeking postponement of the date of his execution on January 22.
