More than 50,000 mobile phone retailers have given an ultimatum to the top five smartphone brands to permanently stop online discounting and launch of online exclusive models, claiming that the ecommerce push had badly hurt their business.
Relief for financial firms as RBI allows video KYC
In a move that will enable banks and fintechs onboard customers remotely, RBI has amended its norms to allow the ‘know your customer’ (KYC) process to be completed through a mobile video conversation. The central bank has also facilitated eKYC and digital KYC by allowing use of Aadhaar or other e-documents in the customer due diligence process.
Solar-powered mobile charging kiosks at 15 stations
Western Railway has partnered with Fun Solar, a non-profit company, to instal solar-powered charging kiosks at stations. WR chief spokesperson Ravinder Bhakar said, “The kiosks have been installed at 15 stations, including Churchgate, Grant Road, Mumbai Central, Andheri, Borivli, Vasai, Boisar and Palghar. We plan to instal them at 5 more stations.”
