  • The 33-year-old last played for India in 2013 during Sachin Tendulkar's farewell Test against the West Indies in Mumbai. In all, he played 24 Tests between 2009 and 2013 in which he took 113 wickets. From 18 ODIs, he grabbed 21 wickets. He also played six T20 Internationals. There will will just six afternoon games this year and will be no doubleheader matches on Saturdays. The double-headers are now only limited to Sundays. Night matches will commence at 8, while the afternoon games will be beginning at 4 PM.

Making Rahul move up and down the order so regularly is not beneficial for him, or the team. At a time when India are tinkering with more than one position in the middle order, Rahul’s success should be used to plug at least one gap. If the team doesn’t think he is a long-term option as an opener, then the most elegant solution would be to nail him down at No. 4.

Chasing 287 to win, India overhauled the target with 15 balls to spare at decider. Earlier, Steve Smith (131) hit a hundred to lead Australia to 286 for nine. Apart from Smith, who raised his ninth ODI hundred, Marnus Labuschagne (54) also batted well after the visitors opted to bat. India had lost the series-opener in Mumbai before levelling the series in Rajkot.

Morgan, who has played for KKR before, had a base price of Rs 1.50 crore. The men in purple had to stave off stiff competition from Delhi Capitals who were also interested in the swashbuckling southpaw. Morgan was second to go in the first set of players of the 13th auction where Chris Lynn, who was released by KKR, was roped in by Mumbai Indians for his base price of 2 crore without any bid.

India won the first T20I despite hitting fewer boundaries than the West Indies, but just like Kohli’s special knock, that was an exception, not the rule. Which is why the West Indies might go into the decider in Mumbai as the slight favourites.

Russell, who played six games at the recently-concluded Abu Dhabi T10 league, didn't find a place despite being fit, while Bravo, who had earlier hinted of an international comeback, was also not considered. Star opener Chris Gayle was in contention but he decided to take "a break", making him unavailable.

The IPL governing council will meet on Saturday in Mumbai to take a call on the tournament that’s scheduled to be played between March 29 and May 24. ET had reported that cancellation or deferment of the league was not under discussion and the BCCI was keener on options such as matches without spectators or ties being held in states that would allow matches.

The 13th edition of the IPL is scheduled to kick off on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai — defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on last year’s runners up Chennai Super Kings. The final will be held on May 24.

The Sunil Joshi-led selection panel met for the first time in Ahmedabad on Sunday to pick a rather "straightforward" squad for the three ODIs against South Africa beginning in Dharamsala on March 12. The addition of two new members, including the chairman, in the national selection committee has not changed the panel's stance on MS Dhoni.

Ambani is the owner of Mumbai Indians cricket team franchise.
