  • The road transport and highways ministry had on March 25 directed the National Highways Authority of India to suspend toll collections across India till April 14.

    In a letter issued to NHAI, the ministry of road transport and highways said that “commercial and private establishments shall be closed down for a period of 21 days with effect from March 25 for containment of Covid-19 epidemic in the country,” further asking the authority to therefore comply with the orders.

    New Delhi, Mar 20 () Ashoka Buildcon on Friday announced the execution of a concession agreement with NHAI for a Rs 1,035.5 crore road project in Karnataka.

    The national highways building authority has extended the fourth round of auction to monetise operational highways to April, as investors adopt a wait-and-watch mode before deciding on long-term investments.

    In a filing to the BSE, PNC Infratech Ltd said it has received "letters of award (LOA) from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on March 9, 2020, for the project of four-laning of the Aligarh-Kanpur section from 356 km (design chainage 373.085 km) to 414 km (design chainage 433.728 km).

    The company's bid project cost for the 17.88 km project was Rs 1,546.31 crore, the company said, adding it will be completed in 2.5 years.

    Latest data from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) shows that toll collected through FASTags, which now account for almost 70% of the transactions across the country, fell 50% on Sunday compared to last week. Toll collected via FASTags on Sunday stood at Rs 33.12 crore, a 48% dip as compared to the Sunday before. On an average, daily toll collection across National highways is Rs 85 crores.

    The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning to augment its toll revenue by monetising a part of land parcels it acquired saalong its flagship Delhi-Mumbai expressway to begin with.

    As a norm, any PPP project costing over Rs 2,000 crore is sent to the PPP Appraisal Committee and then to the Cabinet for its nod. However, PPP projects up to Rs 2,000 crore are appraised and approved by the highways ministry’s Standing Finance Committee. To keep large projects under the finance ministry-set threshold, the highways ministry has been bifurcating large projects.

    Sebi has allowed a combined relevant experience of at least 30 years.
