  • In his fourth visit to the state for poll campaigning, the Congress leader blasted the BJP for allegedly dividing the country like the British Raj.

    Gujarat governor Nawal Kishore Sharma on Tuesday returned the controversial Gujarat Freedom of Religion (amendment) Bill, 2006, saying the legislation violated the right to religious freedom.

    A day after Gujarat government passed a controversial amendment to include Jains and Buddhists as part of the Hindu community, the move evoked sharp reactions here with the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) demanding a reversal of the decision and concerned community leaders seeking “freedom of identity”.
