Following the Bodo Accord,the Assam government has appealed to anti-talk ULFA, which is also known as Ulfa (Independent), under commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah to emulate the footsteps of Bodo outfits and agree to have peace talks with the state government.

Assam govt plans survey to identify indigenous Muslims
Muslims comprise 34% of 3.12 crore population in the state; of these, 4% are indigenous Assamese Muslims while rest are Bengali-speaking ones. The government is yet to begin with the assessment and will start a house-to-house enumeration process to identify indigenous Muslims in Assam.
