  • 439 students bagged 492 offers from 136 firms participating in the placements process. The Consulting sector was the largest recruiter with 31% offers. Marquee Finance and Private Equity-Venture Capital (PE-VC) firms made 83 offers (17%). 22% of overall offers were rolled out in Product Management, IT/Analytics and Operations domains.

    Leading institutions such as IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Kozhikode, IIM-Indore, IIM-Trichy, Bhavan’s SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur are introducing measures including postponing of events and large gatherings, imposing travel restrictions and holding extensive awareness generation sessions on campus about the outbreak.

    The third cluster placement was conducted on February 13, which comprised of 12 cohorts. These cohorts included BFSI, Consumer Tech, Core Manufacturing & Infrastructure, Education & Tech, Enterprise Tech, Food & Dairy, government enterprises, IT Consulting, Pharma & Healthcare, Renewable Energy & Green Tech, Social Enterprises & NGO, and Textiles.

    McKinsey made the most offers (including Pre-Placement Offers) at the end of the final placement process with 27 offers, followed by BCG with 23 offers. This year, 153 firms participated with 182 different roles in the placement process in 2020. Firms from multiple domains participated across the three clusters in final placements.

    Other recruiters included Accenture Strategy, Kearney, Avendus, Bain & Co., Citi, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, KPMG, Monitor Deloitte, Matrix Partners, Multiples, Nomura,Oliver Wyman, among others, according to the information shared by the institute.

    Educationists and marketing pundits concur that expressing dissent on campuses by students through protests is normal, and acceptable. However, some caution when protests stretch too long and send the functioning of an institute into a tailspin, it can potentially impact the reputation of the institute.

    Despite talent from top institutes being in high demand, the schools were taking no chances this year, with increasingly large batch sizes to place.

    The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode; Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s SPJIMR said the sector recorded the biggest on-year jump in the number of offers during final placements for the Class of 2020.

    An estimated 136 cos offered nearly 200 roles to the class of 2021. Several students exercised "Dream" options that allowed them to get multiple offers from top firms. Finance & Consulting firms accounted for 43.2% of total offers.

    On successful completion of the academic requirement of the 1-year ePGPx program, the students will be awarded the 'One Year Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management'.

    "The entire process of summer placements was completed in record time due to process improvements in resume verification and effective management of pre-placement talks and interview schedules," said Chair of Career Development Services, IIMB.
