    Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday released a damage assessment report on cyclone Fani which estimates the total damage and loss at Rs 24,176 crore and recovery needs at Rs 29,315 crore.

    Cyclone 'Bulbul', currently moving at a speed of 13 kmph, may intensify further by Saturday, Biswas said. It is unlikely to make a landfall in Odisha, but the state should brace for heavy to very heavy rainfall in its coastal and northern districts in the next two days, HR Biswas, the director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, said.

    The district disaster management control (DDMC) said that heavy rains lashed parts of Thane and Palghar districts till early hours of Friday. Although no casualties were reported during the downpour that began late on Thursday night, low-lying areas in the districts witnessed water-logging, a DDMC report stated.

    "Maha is no longer a cyclone. It has become a depression into the sea without hitting the Gujarat coast. Rain may occur in most districts during the next 2 days," the Ahmedabad IMD centre's director Jayanta Sarkar said. However, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the next 12 hours as the weather conditions there will be "rough to very rough".
