  • The estimated sales of the smartphone ecosystem are fast rivaling the devices themselves. Deloitte Insights predicts that in the coming days, the smartphone economy will be driven by the smartphone multiplier. Here’s a snapshot.

    Vagadia said that despite the stress on the Indian telecom sector, the handset market has grown last year in India and is slated to grow just below 10% in calendar 2020 too. “Economies of scale are helping brands that are driving volumes, which is helping the market,” he said.

    ​The space agency said in a statement that these chipsets are being released by Qualcomm and this would help accelerate the adoption of NavIC by smartphone original equipment manufacturers (OEM).

    "What started as a sub-brand in POCO has grown into its own identity in a short span of time. We feel the time is right to let POCO operate on its own now. We will spin it off as an independent brand," Manu Jain, Xiaomi Vice President and Xiaomi India Managing Director, said.

    Under the new strategy, Xiaomi, which has so far focussed mainly on the affordable segment to become India’s top smartphone brand, will launch a number of premium phones under the Mi brand. Besides, it will expand the smart TV range with big-screen premium products. The company may also look at launching its concept phone, Mi Max Alpha, in India and elsewhere.

    The simplicity of the test could deliver a new way to quickly identify treatments for patients.

    "We have an estimated USD 1.9 billion (about Rs 13,500 crore) in cybersecurity service business, and USD 450 million (about Rs 3,200 crore) of cybersecurity products business from India. There is also presence of multinational and Indian entities which engage in R&D in cybersecurity," IT Secretary Ajay Prakash Sawhney said.
