If you have recently relocated and are facing issues because your address is not updated on your Aadhaar, here's some help.

As per the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website, there are two ways to update or correct your address on your Aadhaar card:
1. You can update it online
2. Visit an enrolment centre

  • Updating Online:
Only those individuals who have registered their valid mobile number with Aadhaar will be able to update it online. Since online transactions are OTP authenticated, registering your mobile number with Aadhaar becomes mandatory.
If you are using the Self Service Update Portal (SSUP), you can update your demographic details (name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile, and email).

1

Login using your Aadhaar number.
2

Submit your AADHAAR card address change request.
3

Scan and upload supporting self-attested proof of identity document for Aadhaar card address change.
Once your request is submitted, you will be given an Aadhaar card Update Request Number, which can be further used to track the status of your request.

  • Visiting nearby enrolment centre for update:
In case you are visiting an Aadhaar Permanent Enrolment Center, you can get both demographics (name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile, and email) and biometrics (finger prints, iris, and photograph) updated.

You need to carry original documents for updation at enrolment centre. Original documents will be scanned and handed back to you after updation. You can visit any of the permanent enrolment centres for updation.

  • How much is the fee
Updating your address on Aadhaar online is free. However, whenever you get your details corrected or updated at an enrolment centre, you need to pay a fee of Rs 25 each time.

  • Turnaround time
As per the UIDAI website, the turnaround time for updation is 90 days. Your update request will be verified by a UIDAI representative. Once your request is approved, you can download your e-Aadhaar by clicking "Download Aadhaar" on uidai.gov.in. Aadhaar letter with updates will be delivered at the updated address.
