Everything a pensioner needs to know about submitting Jeevan Pramaan Patra online

If you are a pensioner, November is the month you will be planning a visit to your bank or post office to submit your Jeevan Pramaan Patra or life certificate. The government has now provided an online platform to submit the certificate online.

The pensioner does not have to submit the DLC to the bank/post office/pension disbursing agency physically. It is automatically available to them online.
Every year, pensioners are required to provide a Life Certificate or Jeevan Pramaan Patra to their bank in November to ensure continuity of their pension. Earlier the pensioners had to submit it physically. However, this can now be done online.

Pre-requisites
To avail this facility, the pension sanctioning authority (PSA) should be registered with Jeevan Pramaan. ( List of onboarded PSA can be found under ‘Circulars’ tab on https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in)

Digital Life Certificate (DLC)
DLC is generated for an individual and is made available to the pension disbursing authority digitally.

Places to obtain DLC
One can obtain DLC from Citizen Service Centre (CSC) or Pension disbursing agency (Post offices, banks, treasury). Nearest CSC can be located by clicking “Locate a Centre” on https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in. In case of downloading the application on one’s PC or device, a certified and approved biometric device is required.

Informations needed
Once the pensioner visits the CSC or PDA, he/she needs to provide Aadhaar number, mobile number, bank details, and pension related information like pension account number, pension sanctioning and pension disbursing authority details. After this, the pensioner needs to provide his biometric identification.

Process
Once biometrics authentication is completed, Jeevan Pramaan is generated with a unique Pramaan ID. The pensioner receives an acknowledgement message on the registered mobile number

Validity of DLC
DLC is not valid for life, but as per rules prescribed by the pension sanctioning authority. Once the DLC validity period is over, a new certificate must be obtained.

Points to note
